CENTRAL HAWKES BAY ADULT RIDING CLUB’S PROFILE

CHBARC was established in May of 2006 with a small group of keen riders wanting to do a bit more than just riding by themselves or riding over their own properties. We offer a wide range of fun activities that everyone can participate in.

Committee: We decided on our first meeting that we had that we wouldn’t have a committee as such, but to have everybody involved in the running of CHBARC.

Rallies:  We try to hold a rally once a month.  Every member of CHBARC takes it in turn to run a rally. This can be mounted or unmounted. Whoever is organising the rally for that particular month can choose whatever they wish to do. ie: farm ride, basic first aid for horses, show etiquette, jumping, dressage, games and XC etc. The organising member can have help from other members within the club but they do need to sort out everything, costs, date, venue, instructors etc and then to pass the details onto myself with 2 weeks notice of the impending date so that I can inform the rest of our members.

NZRC:  CHBARC is an affiliated member of the New Zealand Riding Clubs, there are many important benefits of being a member of this organisation. With this affiliation we are entitled to 2.5 million dollar insurance (public liability & fire), constitution and rule book, a courtesy supply of ribbons and dressage pads to match their dressage tests, plus we also can participate in NZRC events and competitions. The annual cost of being an affiliated member of NZRC is $20 per club + $5 per member.

Subs:   It was decided also at our first meeting to keep our subs as low as possible. They are presently set at $20 for a season (1 June – 31 May) These are to be paid to our treasurer Karen. If we have to pay a ground levy, fee for usage of another clubs equipment or instructors for a rally this will be done on a user pays system. For instance, if we use another club’s arenas/jumps for a rally they may like us to pay a donation of $20, this will be divided among the riders attending this rally. 10 riders, $2 each. It keeps Karen’s job as minimal as possible and it is easier to keep tabs on everything. We currently have an account with The National Bank, staying with the horsy theme!

Meetings:  As we are a fun friendly club it came to our attention that we possibly only need two meetings per year, May & November. These are normally held at 7:30pm in the Public Bar of the Leopard Hotel in Waipukurau. This however may alter if we are holding a ribbon day, or dressage tournament etc and need everyone together to discuss and organise them.

Newsletter: The CHBARC newsletters will be emailed out to our members and for those that don’t have email, I am more than happy to post them out. It saves time and money to email them as there is no postage, stationary, ink for the printer etc to pay for, and that can only be a good thing.

Classifieds:  I am happy to include any items that you wish to buy or sell in our newsletters. You can email me details and I will put them in the next months newsletter.
