Taranaki turned on some spectacular weather for the weekend of NITE despite its reputation for wind and rain!
There was positive feedback about the facilities and everyone that attended had a great time.
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses there was over $1000 dollars worth of prizes to give away with the winning team taking away $250 in fuel vouchers.
PHASE 1 - OBSTACLE
The obstacle phase was run by Waverley Adult Riding who came up with some very original ideas. Us riders were especially worried about the fly screen which was held up by tractors , however on the day these rode quite well and it was the inconspicuous covered calf troughs that gave most of the problems.
PHASE 2 - QUADRILLE
The Quadrille as usual was very entertaining. The great imagination of these riders never fails to impress, and they manage to bring it altogether on the day as a team.
PHASE 3 - CROSS COUNTRY
Sunday morning dawned with perfect cross country weather presenting overcast skies.
The course had a good range of jumps to suit all abilities. The typical Taranaki countryside provided hills to run up and down with a few prickles thrown in to test horses dodge-ability and riders stick-ability skills!
There was nobody willing to give a swimming demo at the water jump.

PHASE 4 - SHOWJUMPING
New Plymouth & Districts riding club ran the showjumping phase.
The joker was action packed with only a lucky few clearing it. Go the moo cows!!
So great was CARC’s commitment to NITE, that one of our members decided to entertain the crowd by showing off her impressive flying skills (Hint - she also happens to be one of the Newsletter Editors).
