TMHC has sent teams to N.I.T.E. at Pio Pio and Hawera - the photo is the two teams and all the supporters at Hawera.

Popular events at the Club are the Winter Dressage Series and the Spring and Autumn shows.  Every month a rally is organised, and in addition to these the club has a "training fund" which subsidises instructed rallies and a Summer Camp with flatwork and jumping instructors.
The Te Marua Horse Club was formed in May 1989 by a small group of adult riders associated with the Te Marua Pony Club who decided to form their own adult riding club and not leave all the fun for the children.

The new club had nine founder members and an arrangement to use the pony club grounds and equipment.  It aimed to help local horse owners to improve their riding and horse care and to provide fun rallies, small competitions and social events.

This proved so popular that after three years membership had grown to such an extent that the club moved to its own grounds, leased from Upper Hutt City Council.

It is now the largest adult riding club in the region with around 75 members.   The club operates all year round,  with a large all-weather arena 50x50m which has recently been enlarged so that it can accommodate a 60x40 arena when required.  It has also built up a stock of jump stands, poles and fillers etc.  for members' use.

The club has been affiliated with the NZRC since its first year, and members started to take the Grade and Stage exams as they then were.  In 1994 the first ever Riding and Road Safety tests were held at the club grounds, with nearly all members taking part.  This had quite a bit of publicity, being reported in The Dominion and on TVNZ news.   The photo is of Assistant Police Commissioner Phil Wright, on a club member's horse, going through the simulated road test - the first time he had been on a horse!
The latest development is the new website for this club - tmhcnz.com with sections for news, articles, photos, and a discussion forum.
