Twin City Riding Club Hawke’s Bay was first formed in 1976 as the Heretaunga Adult Riding Club. It has also been known as Happy Daze RC, and Mahara-McMillen RC. In 1991 it was renamed Twin City Riding Club HB…and some of us have been involved with the club for 20yrs.
We have traditionally been a small club, currently with twelve members. There is a strong focus on the social friendship aspects, where often our monthly meeting is held at someone’s house, or we go out for dinner prior to a meeting.
Each month, a member or two take their turn to organise the Rally, this is where the Club really shines, as we get to do exactly what we want…from beach and farm rides, games days, tuition in SJ, SH and dressage, and an Annual Show, where our lovely trophies are hotly contested!
December is eagerly awaited as traditionally we head to Pourerere Beach, about an hours drive south-east of Hastings, for our Christmas weekend away…this is family time too, where we stay in quality shearers quarters, and the horses in sheep yards or share a paddock…the beach is just a km away and awesome!…we are becoming famed for our wine tasting competitions!
The Club owns a smart set of show jumps and a pipe dressage arena, and enjoy a venue near the Hawke’s Bay Equestrian Park.
